Every farm we ‘decant’ into an urban shell unlocks the potential of a field returned to its natural state: that of an ecosystemically perpetual carbon sink.
Our ultimate goal at SEED House is to innovate ways of hastening the ‘rewilding’ of enough farmland—via urbanization—to ultimately counterbalance the climate impacts of human industry. No single strategy can have a greater impact, given that conventional farming’s physical footprint exceeds half of the global landmass, in a form that degrades natural systems and the carbon capture potential of what it has displaced.
Homeostasis is a math problem. As long as there is as much global carbon capture as there is carbon emission, the planet balances. There is just one thing that can accomplish that.
And that thing is a natural ecosystem.
